The mission of First Shift Justice Project is to empower low-income pregnant women and parents to safeguard the health and economic security of their families by asserting their workplace rights.

Vision

We envision a workplace culture that values not only paid employment but also the work of family caregiving, in which workers are supported in meeting their responsibilities both at work and at home.

When workers in low-wage jobs are marginalized in the workplace because of their family responsibilities, they lose their ability to meet both their work and family obligations. Workers in low-wage jobs are often unaware of the laws that prohibit family responsibilities discrimination and lack the ability to enforce their rights. First Shift Justice Project reaches out to workers to educate and assist them in asserting their workplace rights.
